As I began my journey through Johto, I was immediately struck by the unpredictability of the game. I encountered a Scyther in the wild on one of my first routes, which was a thrilling (and slightly intimidating) experience. The game continued to surprise me at every turn, from the unusual Pokémon on offer at the local Poké Mart to the unexpected types and movesets of the Gym Leaders' Pokémon.
