The movie is set in a future where two passengers, Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) and Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence), wake up from hibernation on a spaceship, 90 years too early. The ship, named Avalon, is on a 120-year journey to a distant planet to establish a new human colony. The two passengers must navigate the challenges of being alone on the ship, while also trying to survive and find a way to return to hibernation or reach their destination.
