The game follows the story of a high school student who joins a literature club at their school. The club is led by the cheerful and energetic Natsuki, and the player character soon meets two other members: Sayori, a kind and friendly girl, and Monika, the club's president. As the game progresses, the player is presented with choices that seem to influence the story, but these choices are often subverted or used against the player.
